Gold and silver prices have declined ahead of Raksha bandhan in India. According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold has decreased by ₹2,860 to ₹1.58 lakh. The price of one kilogram of silver has dropped by ₹2,791 to ₹2.40 lakh.
Gold prices have fluctuated throughout the year, increasing by ₹29 thousand so far in 2026 compared to last year. On December 31, 2025, 10g of gold was at ₹1.33 lakh, which has now reached ₹1.58 lakh. Silver prices also saw a rise from Rs 2.30 lakh per kg on December 31, 2025, to Rs 2.40 lakh.
The IBJA advises consumers to buy certified gold with a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark and to cross-check the accurate weight and price of gold before purchasing. Making charges, which are the fees that jewelers charge for crafting gold into jewelry, can also be negotiated.
