Gold Prices Plummet Amid Escalating Tensions and Inflation Fears

Gold prices continued their decline on September 2nd, falling for a fourth consecutive day as escalating tensions in the Middle East and rising inflation concerns pushed bond yields higher.

The price of spot gold dropped by 0.5% to $4,309.25 an ounce at 10:40 a.m. in London, with silver down 0.6% at $63.69 an ounce.

Frederik Fischer, senior portfolio manager for multi-asset and commodity funds at Allianz Global Investors, described the market reaction as 'reasonable', noting that gold's drop reflects the increased probability of rate hikes and a stronger dollar.

The recent surge in oil prices has intensified concerns about inflation, with Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh reiterating his commitment to combating rising prices last week.
