Gold Prices Plummet in India Amid Volatile Market Conditions
Gold prices in India continued to fluctuate on September 6, 2026, with a ₹186 per gram decline for 24k gold and a ₹170 per gram decrease for 22k gold. According to the latest data, 24k gold is priced at ₹15,480 per gram, while 22k and 18k golds are set at ₹14,190 and ₹11,610 per gram respectively.
In Delhi, 24k, 22k, and 18k golds have been priced at ₹15,495, ₹14,205, and ₹11,625 per gram respectively. The decline in prices is a result of the volatile nature of bullion markets, which are influenced by factors such as interest rate expectations, geopolitics, central bank purchases, and fluctuations in the value of the US dollar.
The internationally sourced data indicates that gold of purity 24K is priced at $146 per gram in the USA, which translates to $4,541 per troy ounce. The world's mines mine about 3,500 tonnes of gold per annum, while central banks have increased their acquisitions from around 400-500 tonnes per year prior to the war between Russia and Ukraine to about 1,000-1,100 tonnes now.
