Gold Prices Plummet in India, Silver Sees Significant Drop
Gold and silver prices have taken a hit in India, according to recent data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). As of September 11, the price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold has dropped by ₹269 to ₹1.53 lakh. Meanwhile, the cost of one kilogram of silver has decreased by ₹3,742 to approximately ₹2.30 lakh.
The current prices are a decrease from December 31, 2025, when 10 grams of gold cost ₹1.33 lakh and silver was priced at Rs 2.30 lakh per kilogram. During this period, gold reached an all-time high of Rs 1.76 lakh on January 29, while silver peaked at Rs 3.86 lakh.
Anindya Banerjee, Senior Vice President and Head of Commodity Research at Kotak Securities, predicts that despite difficult conditions ahead, gold is likely to continue rising. He believes that the price of gold could reach Rs 1.70 lakh by December, while silver may also see a surge.
