Gold prices in Kolkata plummeted on July 28, reversing Monday's gains. The 24K gold rate dropped ₹172 to ₹14,417 per gram, while 22K and 18K gold also declined sharply.

The decline was broad-based, with all three types of gold recording significant losses. This correction erased Monday's gains and pushed rates back toward the lower end of their recent range.

Despite the latest fall, 24K gold remains ₹88 per gram above its July 19 level of ₹14,329. The volatility in the market has been a concern for investors, with repeated swings rather than a steady move in either direction.
