Gold Prices Reduced in Bangladesh's Local Bullion Market

The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced a reduction in gold prices in the local bullion market on August 29, 2026. The new prices are effective starting from that date.

According to the announcement, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by BDT 7,107, from BDT 2,47,743 to BDT 2,40,636. Similarly, the price of 21-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by BDT 6,713, from BDT 2,36,604 to BDT 2,29,891.

The prices for 18-carat and traditional (Sonaton) gold have also been reduced. The new prices are BDT 1,97,333 for 18-carat gold per bhori, down from BDT 2,03,187, and BDT 1,61,173 for traditional gold per bhori, down from BDT 1,65,920.

Buyers must pay more than the set price when purchasing gold jewelry due to a 5% VAT added to the fixed price and a minimum making charge of BDT 3,500 per 'bhori' applied.
