Gold Prices Rise Across India Amid Weakening Dollar and Geopolitical Tensions
Gold prices rose across leading jewellery brands in India on September 8, 2026. The Indian Bullion & Jewellers Association (IBJA) also reported a rise in gold and silver prices.
According to Prithviraj Kothari, managing director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., and president of the IBJA, gold and silver gained as the dollar weakened. Traders are awaiting inflation data for clues on the Fed's next move.
Kothari noted that gold remains range-bound as buyers and sellers stay evenly matched. However, Iran's threat of 'economic warfare' added a fresh geopolitical edge to the market. The CME FedWatch Tool shows a 60% chance of a rate hike next week, which could pressure non-yielding gold.
The current prices for gold in various cities are as follows:
Tanishq's price for 22k gold jewellery is Rs 14,285 per gram in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Trivandrum, and Bengaluru. The current price of 22K gold jewellery at Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Kalyan Jewellers, and Joyalukkas is also Rs 14,240 per gram each.
IBJA's indicative gold and silver retail selling rates dated September 8, 2026 are: Fine Gold (999) - ₹15,331 per gram; 22 KT Gold - ₹14,963 per gram; 20 KT Gold - ₹13,645 per gram; 18 KT Gold - ₹12,418 per gram; 14 KT Gold - ₹9,888 per gram. Silver (999) is priced at ₹2,34,056 per kg.
