Gold Prices Rise by Tk1,050 per Bhori in Bangladesh

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has raised gold prices in the local market by Tk1,050 per bhori after three consecutive cuts. The new price of 22-carat gold, inclusive of VAT, is now fixed at Tk232,930 per bhori.

This decision was made due to a rise in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market. According to Bajus, the adjustment will be effective from 10am on September 12th and will remain in effect until further notice at all jewellery shops.

The association has also stated that making charges will apply depending on jewellery design, but VAT is already included in the sale price of gold and silver ornaments. This means customers cannot be charged separately for VAT when purchasing these items.
