Gold Prices Slide as Oil Costs Fuel Inflation Fears
Gold prices slipped early on Tuesday, dipping to $4,443 per ounce as investors grew concerned about rising oil costs and their potential impact on inflation. The escalation of tensions in the Middle East has driven up crude oil prices, which could prompt the Federal Reserve to maintain a hawkish monetary policy path.
The spot gold price dropped to $4,440.34 per ounce after holding near $4,454.68 earlier in the session. This decrease comes as energy prices surge following recent geopolitical military exchanges.
Gold prices had been on the rise before this drop, with spot gold reaching its highest level in over three months. However, it retreated 0.2% to $4,640.39 per ounce by 03:34 GMT.
