Gold Prices Slip Ahead of Warsh's Jackson Hole Speech
Gold prices slipped by 0.4% on Friday to $4,584.30 an ounce, setting up a weekly decline as investors awaited Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at Jackson Hole for clues on US interest rates.
The yellow metal had reached a three-month high near $4,700/oz earlier in the week due to concerns over US fiscal policy and the Treasury's support of longer-dated bonds.
Despite this, gold is poised to fall 0.4% for the week after three consecutive weeks of gains.
The upcoming speech by Warsh has investors positioning cautiously as they seek signals on inflation and the central bank's interest rate approach.
