Gold Prices Soar to 2.5-Month High Amid Global Uncertainties and Strong Demand
Gold prices have surged to a 2.5-month high, driven by global uncertainties and strong demand from China. Spot gold rose above $4,400 per ounce on August 11, while gram gold is selling at 6,742 lira. This increase comes as investors focus on upcoming inflation data in the US, which will provide clues about future interest rates.
The price of spot gold reached $4,412 per ounce, its highest level since June 5, according to market analysts. IG analyst Tony Sycamore attributed the rise to fear of missing out (FOMO), covering of short positions, and safe-haven flows returning to the market.
Sycamore expressed his medium-term expectations, stating that prices will break out and pave the way for a stronger recovery towards $5,000. The US consumer price index due on Wednesday and producer price data due on Thursday are expected to directly shape monetary policy expectations in the upcoming period.
