Gold Prices Soar to New Heights Amid Ongoing Market Volatility

Gold prices have been fluctuating constantly, and as of August 16, 2026, they have reached new heights. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the futures price for 24-carat gold had risen to ₹1,54,590 per 10 grams by the close of trading. In international markets, the price of gold hit $4,078.70 per ounce. Silver prices are also experiencing an upward trend.

The price of gold has increased significantly this year, with a rise of ₹19,000 since December 31, 2025. On that date, the price of 10g of gold was above ₹1.33 lakh; it has now reached ₹1.52 lakh. The price of silver has also risen by ₹4,000, from ₹2.30 lakh per kilogram on December 31, 2025, to ₹2.34 lakh per kilogram.

Gold prices in major cities across India have remained steady at the following rates: Delhi ₹1,56,200 per 10 grams (inclusive of all taxes), Mumbai ₹155,130, and so on. These prices are expected to remain unchanged until next week's trading session. It remains to be seen whether gold prices will rise or fall around Rakhi.
