Gold Prices Soar to New Heights in India Amid Global Economic Uncertainty
Gold prices in India have reached new highs, hovering around ₹1.61 lakh per 10 grams as of August 29, 2026. The precious metal has maintained an upward trajectory across domestic markets, with minor regional variations due to municipal taxation and local logistics.
The retail price for 24-carat gold is steady at ₹1.61 lakh per 10 grams, while 22-carat gold trades close to ₹1.48 lakh per 10 grams. The prices have been influenced by international macroeconomic shifts and US Federal Reserve policy signals.
City-wise rates show that Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and other major Indian hubs are all reporting similar prices for gold. Silver rates, on the other hand, vary slightly, with Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai reporting ₹2.65 lakh per kilogram.
The surge in precious metals can be attributed to several key drivers, including US federal reserve policy, geopolitical volatility, central bank accumulation, and US dollar fluctuations.
