Gold prices in India have surged to a seven-week high of Rs 1.53 lakh per 10 grams, driven by a weaker rupee and firm global trends.

The precious metal rose by Rs 3,800 from the previous day's closing level of Rs 1.50 lakh per 10 grams.

Silver also rallied, gaining Rs 2,100 to reach Rs 2.34 lakh per kilogram.

Analysts attribute the gold price increase to a weaker dollar and softer US Treasury yields, which have boosted demand for precious metals.
