Gold Prices Stabilize Amid Fed Policy Uncertainty
Gold prices have stabilized after fluctuating due to conflicting factors in the market. The US dollar rebounded, and Treasury yields rose, which would typically put downward pressure on gold. However, uncertainty surrounding the Federal Reserve's policy stance has provided support for gold, keeping it above the psychological threshold of $4,000.
According to FxPro's chief market analyst Alex Kuperschik, robust manufacturing data and renewed interest in the artificial intelligence sector have led to a stronger US dollar. This would normally cap gold's upside, but the uncertainty surrounding the Fed's policy has provided a support factor for gold.
New York Fed President John Williams stated that current policy is only appropriate if inflation remains in line with expectations. If the inflation trend changes, the Fed could adjust its policy again, which would have implications for interest rates and subsequently impact gold prices.
