Gold's price has been fluctuating in August 2026, sitting between $4,000 and $4,100 an ounce. This is a far cry from its January peak but shows signs of stabilizing as summer comes to a close.

In the UK, this translates to approximately £3,000 an ounce or around £96-97 per gram at current exchange rates.

Analysts from various banks have weighed in on their predictions for August 2026. MUFG expects gold to remain around $4,000 for the rest of the year, caught between two opposing forces: lower US government bond yields and ongoing global tensions pushing the price up, versus a potential interest rate hike by the Federal Reserve cooling its appeal.

SD Bullion's senior precious metals analyst James Anderson believes gold will pick up again later in 2026 but not specifically in August. Meanwhile, J.P. Morgan's research team remains bullish on long-term predictions, forecasting gold to reach around $6,000 an ounce by the end of 2026.
