Gold Prices Surge Amid Gaza Disarmament Agreement
Gold and silver futures rose on Thursday, with gold prices increasing by 3.08% to settle at $4,160.60 per ounce, while silver prices gained 1.60% to close at $59.017 per ounce.
The gains in gold and silver prices come as U.S. President Donald Trump announced an agreement for the 'complete disarmament' of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. The agreement was reached through negotiations brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye, with Israel to withdraw its forces once disarmament is completed.
According to Trump, the International Stabilization Force will work with a new Palestinian police force to take responsibility for Gaza's security. While Hamas has not officially confirmed the agreement, reports from Al Arabiya TV and Egypt's state TV suggest that an agreement has been reached, with Hamas set to issue a statement soon.
