Gold Prices Surge Amid Weaker Dollar, Lower Oil
Gold and silver prices rose on August 4, thanks to a weaker US dollar and lower oil prices. The price of gold for October delivery reached ₹1,43,397 per 10 grams, up 0.34 percent from the previous day. Silver futures for September delivery also climbed 1.12 percent to trade at ₹2,19,180 per kilogram.
The current price trend is driven by external macroeconomic factors rather than sudden geopolitical shocks. A decline in crude oil prices combined with a weaker US dollar has historically provided a supporting environment for gold, as the metal is often viewed as a hedge when the dollar loses strength.
Investors are now focused on upcoming US employment data to understand the future path of Federal Reserve interest rates. The market is expecting key labor data releases later this week, including the ADP Employment Change report, Non-Farm Payrolls, and the national Unemployment Rate. These figures will serve as a bellwether for the health of the US economy.
