Gold Prices Surge Amid West Asian Turmoil
Gold prices in India continue to fluctuate due to ongoing tensions in West Asia. According to Good Returns, the current price of 24 carat gold stands at ₹15,486 per gram, marking a daily increase of ₹104 compared to August 11. The price of 22 carat and 18 carat gold currently stands at ₹14,195 and ₹11,614 per gram respectively, with daily increases of ₹95 and ₹77.
The recent turmoil in the Middle East has kept precious metal markets volatile, causing fluctuations in domestic gold prices driven by worldwide spot values, government import tariffs, and currency exchange rate shifts. US President Donald Trump's downplaying of tensions with Iran has done little to alleviate investor concerns, as crude oil prices remain near multi-week highs.
The fragile truce between the US and Iran negotiated earlier this year has disintegrated, prompting a return to active military operations and severe volatility in energy sectors. As investors seek safe havens amid international unrest, gold continues to attract attention, mirroring global instability and local precious metals markets.
