Gold Prices Surge as Dollar Weakness Fuels Fed Expectations
Gold prices rose in trading on August 14 after US inflation data revealed higher expectations for interest rates remaining unchanged. Spot gold increased by 0.6 percent to USD 4,376.02 per ounce.
This uptick followed a previous session where investors took profits after prices reached their highest level since June 5. As a result, spot gold fell around 1.3 percent in the prior trading session.
US gold futures also rose by 0.3 percent to USD 4,433.90 per ounce, while silver gained 1 percent to USD 65.08 per ounce. Platinum and palladium prices both increased by 0.9 percent to USD 1,733.34 per ounce and USD 1,318.50 per ounce respectively.
