Gold Prices Surge in India as Gold Hits ₹1.54 Lakh and Silver Reaches ₹2.35 Lakh
Gold prices in India rose across markets on September 4, according to updates from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold increased by ₹967 to ₹1,54,908. Silver also jumped by ₹2,439 per kilogram to reach ₹2,34,972.
Since the start of the year, gold prices have surged by ₹22,000 per 10 grams, reaching their current rate from ₹1.33 lakh at the end of December 2025. Gold touched a record high of ₹1.76 lakh on January 29, and silver reached its peak of ₹3.86 lakh per kilogram on the same day.
The price variation across Indian cities is driven by four key factors: transport and security costs, regional buying volume, local jeweller associations, and inventory purchase rates. Retail buyers should verify BIS hallmarking, cross-check live market rates, and negotiate making charges when purchasing jewellery.
