Gold Prices Surge Past $4,400 Amid Bank Promotions and Weakening Dollar
International gold prices surged past $4,400 per ounce in mid-August, reaching their highest point since early June. The price break came after nearly two months of range-bound consolidation around the $4,000 level.
As gold reclaimed key resistance levels, multiple banks relaunched promotional campaigns for gold accumulation products, offering fee discounts, point rewards, and other incentives to attract investors.
CITIC aiBank and Bank of China's Henan branch launched promotional materials highlighting real-time pricing and automated investment options. ICBC's Shaanxi branch offered new customers a reward campaign with random points redemptions.
According to Gu Fengda, chief analyst at Guosen Futures, the gold rally resulted from a combination of macro expectation repair and technical breakout. The market expects near-term Fed rate hikes to fade, weakening the dollar and real interest rates.
