Gold Prices Surge to ₹1.59 Lakh per 10 Grams Amid International Volatility
The global gold market has been experiencing significant volatility in recent times, with prices fluctuating due to various factors. On August 20, 2026, gold prices surged on the MCX, reaching ₹1.59 lakh per 10 grams of 24K gold. This marked a daily increase of ₹430 and a monthly gain of 10.42%. The spot price of gold was also down by 0.7% to $4,487.63 per ounce after reaching its highest point since June 2 at $4,525.79.
The Indian market has been influenced by international rates and currency movements. Analysts predict that gold will continue on the upside path as long as prices stay above the $4,400-$4,500 range post-rally. However, a hawkish stance from the RBI could put pressure on gold prices if they hike rates earlier than expected.
Silver prices have also been affected by international prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. On August 20, silver was priced at ₹2.55 lakh per kg, with a daily gain of ₹10,000 and an 8.51% increase in August.
