Gold Prices Surge to Highest Level Since June Amid Market Uncertainty
Gold prices surged to their highest level in over two months on Tuesday, closing at $4,432.74 per ounce.
This marks a 1% gain for spot gold and its highest point since June 5.
Investors increased their gold holdings ahead of key U.S. inflation data, which is set to be released on Wednesday, and returned to safe-haven assets amid renewed market uncertainty.
Market analysts attribute the rally to short-covering by speculative traders and stronger demand for safe-haven assets, with Tony Sycamore from IG predicting that gold will maintain its upward momentum in the medium term and potentially reach the $5,000 mark.
