Gold prices surged to their highest level in seven weeks after touching $4,254.98 per ounce on August 6th.

This marks the fourth consecutive session of gains for gold, which was supported by a weaker US dollar as traders assessed the likelihood of the Strait of Hormuz reopening.

The previous day saw gold record its largest single-day gain since February.

US gold futures also rose to $4,312.80, while other precious metals showed mixed performance.
