Gold Prices Tumble Ahead of Crucial Economic Data Releases
Gold and silver prices are poised for further volatility in September after a sharp correction in August. Last week, gold futures for October delivery on the MCX plummeted by Rs 6,157 or 3.8%, falling to Rs 1.56 lakh per 10 grams. Similarly, silver futures for September declined by Rs 9,893 or 4% to Rs 2.36 lakh per kg.
The correction comes ahead of key economic data releases, including US jobs data and inflation figures from the Eurozone and Germany. These numbers could influence expectations over the Federal Reserve's September policy decision, making market participants nervous about potential changes in monetary policy. 'The coming week is likely to remain highly volatile, with market participants attempting to price in the probability of a September Federal Reserve policy change,' said Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities.
The sharp correction has already caused selling pressure, particularly after Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech, which triggered profit booking. With traders bracing for fresh volatility in September, investors will be closely watching these key economic data releases to gauge their impact on gold and silver prices.
