Gold Prices Tumble Amid Geopolitical Tensions and Strong US Jobs Data
Bullion prices dropped on September 9 due to renewed geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and stronger-than-expected US jobs data. This led to elevated oil prices and a strong US dollar, weighing on gold prices.
Comex futures fell by 0.55% to just above $4,414 per ounce, while silver declined by 0.54% to $66.64 per ounce. In contrast, domestic MCX gold futures for the October contract rose by 0.02% to Rs 1,52,605 per 10 grams.
The oil market is currently a significant factor influencing gold prices. Brent futures traded above 2% at around $99 a barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate crude gained nearly 3% to about $94 on Tuesday. This has kept the US dollar elevated against the rupee.
