Gold and silver prices continued their upward trend on Saturday, August 22, as investors sought safer havens amidst global economic and geopolitical risks. The Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) saw gold trade above ₹1.60 lakh per 10 grams, with Goodreturns reporting a price of ₹1,60,737 per 10 grams, up ₹1,312 or 0.82% during the morning session.

Meanwhile, silver futures also remained strong on Friday, with Goodreturns reporting MCX silver at around ₹2,45,612 per kg, up ₹2,369 or about 1%, with an intraday high of ₹2,46,229 per kg.

The current prices are influenced by a softer US dollar and increased demand for safe-haven assets. Gold has recorded its third consecutive weekly gain, with global gold up around 3% for the week as of Friday morning.
