Gold Soars as Weaker Dollar and Lower Oil Prices Support Bullion
Gold prices surged more than 2% on Wednesday as the dollar weakened ahead of key US jobs data. Spot gold climbed to $4,170 an ounce, while US gold futures rose 1.7% to $4,223.8.
The weaker dollar made gold and other dollar-denominated metals more attractive to investors holding other currencies. This trend is expected to continue as markets await the US jobs report for July, which could influence the Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions.
Oil prices also fell by over 1%, contributing to gold's gains. The drop in oil prices reduced concerns about higher energy costs and inflation, making it less likely that the Fed will tighten monetary policy further.
