Gold Stocks Shine as Safe Haven Demand Rebuilds Amid Inflation Fears
Investors are increasingly turning to gold and precious metals as safe havens in times of rising interest rates and inflation worries. Three companies stand out for their exposure to gold prices: Gold Royalty, Wesdome Gold Mines, and Pan African Resources.
Gold Royalty (GROY) is a royalty company that finances gold mines in exchange for a share of future production. Its portfolio spans various stages of mine life cycles across the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The company has reported $22.6 million in revenue from its investments, with key contributions from Brazil ($8.5 million), Canada ($6.7 million), and other regions.
Wesdome Gold Mines (TSX: WDO) is a Toronto-based gold producer with two underground operations in Ontario and Québec. The company generates almost all of its CA$1.08 billion revenue from Canada, with $624 million coming from Eagle River and $461 million from Kiena. Wesdome's ROE is 40.7%, and it has an active growth and exploration program.
Pan African Resources (LSE: PAF) is a pure-play gold miner in South Africa, with its portfolio anchored by the Barberton Mines complex and the Elikhulu tailings retreatment plant. The company generates around $330 million from Evander Mines and $290 million from Barberton Mines.
