Gold Supply Stabilizes Amid Record Mine Output and Slumping Recycling Activity
The global gold supply in Q2 2026 remained stable at 1,269 metric tons, matching levels from the same period in 2025.
This stability was due to record mine output of 966 metric tons, a 2% increase year-on-year. First-half output also rose 3% to 1,867 metric tons.
The growth in mine production was led by Canada, Chile, Burkina Faso, and Ghana, while output declined in Nicaragua, Mexico, the United States, and China.
Recycled gold supply fell 6% year-on-year to 326 metric tons, as softer gold prices curbed consumer selling. Recycling activity weakened notably in India, China, and the Middle East, while Europe and the United States showed relatively stronger performance.
