Gold Surges Past ₹1.60 Lakh, Silver Hits ₹2.45 Lakh on MCX
On August 22, gold and silver prices remained in focus after recording strong gains on Friday. Gold traded above ₹1.60 lakh per 10 grams on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), while silver moved over ₹2.45 lakh per kg.
The latest push is backed by a softer US dollar, safer haven demand, and fresh worries around global economic and geopolitical risks.
MCX gold traded at ₹1,60,737 per 10 grams on Friday, up ₹1,312 or 0.82%, while silver futures were reported at ₹2,46,113 per kg, up 1.18%.
The near-term course of gold and silver is likely to remain sensitive to the US dollar, bond yields, Fed expectations, geopolitical changes, and money inflows from investors.
