Gold and silver prices on the MCX surged to new heights on Monday due to rising demand ahead of the festive season and strong global market cues.

The October gold futures rose by 0.76% to ₹1,52,982, while September silver gained 1.62% to ₹2,35,221.

Market experts attributed the price hike to increased jewellery and investment demand ahead of the festive season, as well as strength in international markets.

The analysts also pointed out that fresh long positions in the market could keep prices firm despite near-term volatility.
