Gold prices surged to ₹1.54 lakh per 10 grams on Monday, August 17, after increasing by ₹1,703 in domestic markets. This comes as silver prices also rose to ₹2.36 lakh per kilogram, up by ₹2,531.

The sharp increase in gold and silver prices is attributed to strong demand in the market. Gold has seen a phenomenal run this month, with prices shooting up by ₹11,000 in just 17 days of August alone.

According to Ajay Kedia, Commodity Expert & Director, Kedia Advisory, despite the recent rally, current prices are still trading significantly below their January peaks. He recommends a staggered investment approach for investors, citing that gold is expected to test the ₹1.60 lakh mark again by the end of 2026.
