Gold Surges to Three-Month High Amid Dollar Weakness and Geopolitical Tensions
Gold prices have surged to their highest level in over three months, reaching $4,649.95 an ounce as of August 24th, according to Mettis Global.
The price increase is attributed to a weaker U.S. dollar, which has been trading at multi-month lows due to market uncertainty following the U.S. Treasury's plans to buy back longer-dated government bonds.
A weaker dollar typically supports gold by making it cheaper for buyers holding other currencies, as seen in this case where spot gold is up 1.02% from its previous levels.
Investors are also keeping a close eye on geopolitical developments, including the United States' threat to Iran with what it described as its 'greatest financial offensive ever marshalled' through sanctions targeting the country's trade partners.
