Grain Markets Surge on Weaker Dollar, Crude Oil
The grain markets have seen significant gains due to a weaker US dollar and firming crude oil futures. The corn market, in particular, has been supported by recent major flooding in the eastern Corn Belt and Pro Farmer crop scouts' lower yield potential estimates for Midwestern states.
Pro Farmer Crop Tour scouts measured average yield potential of 183.54 bu. per acre in Indiana, down from 193.82 last year and the three-year average of 187.42. On the western leg of the tour, scouts measured an average yield of 163.61 bu. per acre in Nebraska, down from 179.5 bu. Per acre in 2025 and the three-year average of 173.32.
The soybean complex has also been boosted by the Pro Farmer Crop Tour favoring market bulls and recent flooding in the eastern Corn Belt. The US dollar index dropped to a 2.5-month low, providing additional support for the complex.
