Grain Markets Torn Apart by War, Falling Prices, and Rising Fuel Costs
The global grain market is facing uncertainty due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The escalating war has disrupted exports from major Black Sea ports, creating concerns about global grain supplies and trade.
Russian domestic grain prices have fallen 36% since June, reaching their lowest level for this point in the season in five years, according to SovEcon. This decline comes despite continued worries surrounding export disruptions and the conflict.
The potential increase in fuel costs is also adding pressure on farm margins as harvest approaches. Higher energy and diesel prices could lead to additional expenses for producers.
