A snapshot of daily cash grain bids across the High Plains features local elevator prices for corn, soybeans, wheat, and sorghum in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas. The data is provided by the Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) of the US Department of Agriculture. According to the AMS, the prices are based on a weekly survey of cash grain bids from local elevators.
The snapshot includes prices for corn, soybeans, wheat, and sorghum in each state. For example, in Kansas, the price for corn is listed as $3.55 per bushel, while in Nebraska it's $3.65 per bushel. In Texas, the price for soybeans is $9.15 per bushel.
The data also includes annual grain price trends. According to the AMS, the trend indicates a steady increase in prices over the past year. For example, corn prices have increased by 12% over the past 12 months, while soybean prices have increased by 10%. Wheat prices have decreased by 5%, and sorghum prices have decreased by 3%.
