Grain Prices Stable Amid Global Production Surges
Grain prices remained largely unchanged in the past week, but French rapeseed showed strong increases driven by US soybean prices. The December contract for French wheat closed on Friday at €236.50/t and was at €233.75/t on Tuesday evening.
The WASDE report from the US Department of Agriculture forecast a 2.3 bu/ac cut in US maize yield, but this is offset by an increase in the US maize area by 1.2m acres to take total production to 406.7m tonnes.
Global coarse grain production was raised by 1.1m tonnes to 1.593bn tonnes, with increases in corn production in Russia, Ukraine, and Zambia partially offsetting a reduction in the EU.
The Pro Farmer Crop Tour reported a decrease in corn yield of 14% in South Dakota compared to 2025, while soybean pod numbers fell by 20% in the same state.
