Grains and Livestock Markets React to Crude Oil Price Drop
The grains and livestock futures markets are experiencing significant price movements on Tuesday, August 4th. December corn has dropped by 4.5 cents per bushel, while November soybeans have fallen by 14.5 cents. The wheat market is also down, with September KC wheat losing 8.75 cents, September Chicago wheat down 10 cents, and September MIAX wheat decreasing by 8.5 cents.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average has seen a significant surge, rising by 660.33 points. However, the U.S. Dollar Index has only increased by 0.020. Meanwhile, crude oil prices have taken a hit, with September crude oil falling by $3.78 per barrel. This decline in crude oil is being attributed to the prospect of a longer-term peace agreement with Iran.
The livestock complex is also experiencing mixed results. October live cattle are down $0.13 at $226.6, while September feeder cattle have risen by $0.78 to $343.325. October lean hogs are down $0.03 at $83.65. The absence of any developments in the fed cash cattle market has led to a lack of bids or asking prices.
