Grains and Livestock Markets See Surge on Falling Yields and Export Issues
The global grains and livestock markets are experiencing a surge in prices on August 26th. December corn is up by 5.5 cents per bushel, while November soybeans have risen by 5.25 cents. Wheat futures are also increasing, with the December KC wheat contract up by 13 cents, December Chicago wheat up by 14 cents, and December MIAX wheat up by 9.75 cents.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down by 1.02 points, while the U.S. Dollar Index has risen by 0.2%. Crude oil prices have fallen, with October crude oil down by $1.18 per barrel. The value of gold has also decreased, with December gold down by $24.00 per ounce.
The USDA reports that private exporters have sold 333,000 metric tons (12.2 million bushels) of soybeans to China for the 2026-27 marketing year. Market analysts attribute the price increases to falling yields, rising demand, and export issues in the Black Sea region.
