Grains, Livestock Markets Close Lower Amid Weekend Trading
Grain futures closed lower across the board on Friday, as wheat took the biggest hit before the Labor Day weekend. December corn dropped 4 cents to $5.36¾, struggling to regain momentum after breaking its recent uptrend. The strong August rally had traders taking some money off the table.
Soybeans were also lower, with November beans finishing down 6½ cents at $13.09¾. A USDA export sale announcement added 250,600 metric tons of soybeans sold to unknown destinations for the 2026-27 marketing year, but this wasn't enough to push the market higher.
Wheat saw the heaviest selling, with December Chicago wheat dropping 20¼ cents to $7.34 and Kansas City wheat losing 13¼ cents to $8.02¼. Minneapolis wheat fell 20½ cents to $7.45.
