Grains, Livestock Markets Show Mixed Results Amid Export Restrictions
The grains and livestock futures markets are experiencing mixed results as of August 5th. December corn is down 4 1/4 cents per bushel, while November soybeans are down 3 1/2 cents. However, September KC wheat is up 12 cents, and September Chicago wheat is up 8 1/2 cents.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 494.37 points, but the U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.170. September crude oil is down $1.18 per barrel, while December gold is up $158.30 per ounce.
Wheat prices are rising due to concerns over continued export restrictions in the Black Sea region. The forecast for the Corn Belt remains wet for the next week or more, which is contributing to lower corn and soybean prices.
