Grains, Oilseeds See Strong End-of-Year Demand
The USDA reports that grain and oilseed export inspections remain on pace as the marketing year draws to a close. Physical shipments of corn, sorghum, and soybeans during the week ending July 23rd exceeded projections, with just over a month remaining in 2025/26.
Corn demand has been driven by key feed customers like Mexico and Japan, while sorghum and soybean exports have benefited from improved trade with China. Wheat inspections also saw an increase, totaling 394,785 tons, up from the previous week and a year ago.
The marketing years for different grains began at different times: September 1st for beans, corn, and sorghum, while 2026/27 kicked off June 1st for wheat. Corn inspections are approaching the end of the 2025/26 marketing year, with a total of 75,323,661 tons, compared to 60,350,497 in 2024/25.
