Grains Surge as Black Sea Region Geopolitical Tensions Rise
Grains ended the trading day on a strong note, driven by heightened geopolitical risks in the Black Sea region. According to the Commstock Report, drone attacks and export concerns pushed wheat prices to multi-year highs.
The report noted that 'Heightened geopolitical risk for the Black Sea region sent wheat higher in a big hurry.' The ceasefire seemed like a possibility early in the week but was erased as usual.
Wheat led the way into the close, with December CBOT wheat closing up 45¢ at $7.48¼ per bushel and December Kansas City wheat up 38¢ at $8.08¾ per bushel.
Corn also saw significant gains, with December corn ending the day up 13¢ at $5.36½ per bushel. Soybeans closed up 28¼¢ at $12.66 per bushel, breaking out to new contract highs and opening a door to the topside.
