Greek Defense System Intercepts Yemeni Missiles Targeting Saudi Oil Refineries
A Greek-operated air defense system in Saudi Arabia intercepted two ballistic missiles fired from Yemen on Saturday, targeting oil refineries in Yanbu. According to Greek security sources cited by Reuters, no Iranian strikes were reported overnight.
The incident comes after the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen conducted airstrikes on Houthi military sites in Hodeidah governorate on Friday. The coalition claimed the sites posed a threat to commercial shipping. However, Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV countered that Saudi forces targeted facilities belonging to the state telecommunications corporation and Kamaran Island.
Turki al-Malki, a spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, stated that Hodeidah port remained open to maritime navigation despite Saudi airstrikes. In response, Houthi spokesman Mohammed Abdul Salam accused Saudi Arabia of imposing a siege on Yemen, employing tactics similar to those used by Israel.
