Greek LNG Carrier Involved in Incident Exiting Strait of Hormuz

A Greek-owned liquefied natural gas carrier was involved in an incident in the Strait of Hormuz at the end of last week, according to its owner company. The vessel, Gas Log Shanghai, had loaded liquefied gas in Qatar in late July and began its journey out of the Persian Gulf on August 26.

The ship's owner, Gas Log LNG Services, confirmed that the crew is safe but declined to specify the nature of the incident. In a statement, the company said it activated its emergency plan and notified all relevant authorities.

Gas Log Shanghai was detected outside the Strait of Hormuz on late Sunday, according to ship-tracking data. The incident highlights ongoing concerns about security in the waterway, which has seen several incidents in recent months.
