GRSE Lands Rs 1,032 Crore ONGC Contract for Four Offshore Ships
Indian shipbuilder Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) has secured a massive contract worth Rs 1,032 crore from Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC). The deal is for designing, constructing, and delivering four Platform Supply Vessels (PSVs), which are expected to support offshore exploration and production operations in India.
The vessels will be built in accordance with the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) rules. Each PSV will have an overall length of around 80 meters, a beam of 20 meters, a deadweight capacity of 3,000 tonnes, an endurance of 45+3 days, and a clear deck area of approximately 650 square meters.
The ships will feature advanced hybrid propulsion systems, including electrically driven azimuth thrusters and Lithium-Ion Battery Energy Storage Systems. The battery system is designed to support peak load management, spinning reserve, dynamic positioning operations, and emergency response functions, reducing environmental impact while enhancing operational efficiency.
