Grupo MET Secures Long-Term LNG Supply Deal with Shell from the US
Grupo MET and Shell have strengthened their strategic relationship by signing a new long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) purchase agreement. Under this deal, Shell will supply LNG shipments to MET from its portfolio in the United States for several years.
This contract reinforces Grupo MET's ambition to supply its European customers with LNG from the US, thus bolstering supply security and portfolio diversification.
The agreement marks an additional step in the strategic relationship between the two companies, which previously signed a 10-year FOB (free-on-board) LNG purchase contract in July 2024.
Grupo MET's CEO, Huibert Vigeveno, emphasized that customers are at the center of all the group's activities and highlighted that stable access to US LNG 'reinforces the ability to offer greater flexibility and value in European energy markets.'
