The ongoing conflict between Iran and the US has accelerated investment in Gulf infrastructure, particularly in energy pipelines and ports.
Gulf nations are retooling their investment strategies to weather the economic fallout from the war. They're ploughing billions of dollars into infrastructure projects after the Strait of Hormuz was virtually blocked for much of the past six months.
This chokepoint previously handled 20% of global oil flows, and the war has highlighted the region's overreliance on it. Trade is being redirected to Saudi ports on the Red Sea and the UAE's eastern ports, but their capacity is smaller.
